Broken Heart Syndrome: When Stress Literally Stuns the Heart

  • Understand how severe emotional or physical stress—especially sudden loss—can trigger Takotsubo syndrome, a condition that mimics a heart attack but occurs even when coronary arteries are clear.

  • Learn how stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine can “stun” the heart—and how acupressure points such as Heart 7 and Pericardium 6 may help regulate stress and calm the heart during crisis.
